Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken is a market leading brand with a well established identity. Coming from humble beginnings with only a single operation found in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993!
The founders of the brand, namely Costa Mazzis, Johan van Eyk and Beverley Vaskys, all are still actively involved in the daily operations of the company ensuring continuity and excellence throughout the brand.
The group has its offices in Centurion, South Africa as well as national distribution centres in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and in Gaborone, Botswana. It also has a service office in the London.

The company has grown exponentially which led us to start franchising in 1998. We have been continually expanding and have become a household name the world over ever since.
With today's global trends that are demanding the fast lane approach in so many avenues of our lives, there is a little time available to enjoy good, old-fashioned traditions and ideals. Our quick service restaurants specialize in the traditional way of serving healthy and spicy flame grilled chicken, prepared as authentically as it was mastered by the Portuguese chefs hundreds of years ago.
The recipes we use for our meals and sauces have been passed down through generations and are still our best kept secrets. Our original flavour is unsurpassed and after centuries, still satisfies the most discerning palate.

While the re-telling of the legend varies, offering different versions, Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken has written a singularly modern story of its own. As with any journey that starts out with one small step, Barcelos opened its first store in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. Using recipes mastered by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago, our flame grilled flavours became so popular that we franchised the business in 1998. Since then we have opened outlets in 16 countries including SA, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Canada, UK, Dubai, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, and soon in Pakistan, India & Qatar
